For Your Health

The Biffy Personal Rinse was developed by physicians and nurses for your personal health. Rubbing with paper is not only unclean and archaic, it is very irritating to delicate tissues and spreads bacteria around the rectal and vaginal areas. The resulting contamination can feel uncomfortable and lead to vaginal colonization.

The problem is more than one of aesthetics and discomfort. Using toilet paper is a major cause of bladder and urinary tract infections. In fact, the vast majority of urinary infections are caused by E. coli and other intestinal pathogens. Sexual activity amplifies the situation by further spreading bacteria in the perineal area. The annual morbidity from urinary infections and resultant costs to patients and society is massive. Thorough cleansing with water dramatically lessens the toll of urinary infections. The Biffy is effective at reducing or eliminating urinary tract infections.

Another serious health problem that is irritated by toilet paper and relieved by water cleansing is hemorrhoids. Millions of people suffer with hemorrhoids. In addition to itching and bleeding, hemorrhoids make it difficult to clean the rectal area and lead to even more rubbing and irritation. Sitz baths and water soaks have long been used to sooth and help heal hemorrhoids. Bidets are often recommended as a way to cleanse without the mechanical irritation of toilet paper, but the cost and space requirements of traditional bidets make them unobtainable to most hemorrhoid sufferers. The Biffy cleans the entire perineum, including around hemorrhoids, in a few seconds without manual contact or rubbing of any kind.

The Biffy also provides gentle, non-irritating care for many other health problems including rashes, fissures and postnatal care for new mothers.

In addition to the personal health benefits a Biffy offers its user, it can help decrease or eliminate widespread fecal contamination in homes with young children, disabled or elderly persons. Because the Biffy cleans without touching, the chance of fecal contamination of hands, skin, clothing and bathroom fixtures can be reduced or eliminated.

It is important to note that since the Biffy adjusts to and cleans the user in the fully seated position; access to peri-rectal tissues is convenient and complete. Furthermore, the spray pattern is wide enough to "sweep clean" the entire region, even if aim is less than optimal. This feature is unique to the Biffy and very much appreciated by persons who are infirm and by the caregivers who assist them.

The Biffy teaches children good hygiene essentials.
